THIS WEEK AT SENCR-MIC, January 4-8, 2010

Happy New Year!

2010 looks to be a great year for research in southeastern North Carolina.  As we finish up installation of our new Hyperprobe, we are undertaking several initiatives to get the word out about our center and what we can do. One such initiative will be “This week at SENCR-MIC”. Each Friday afternoon, I will post what we have been doing that week, any new developments, ideas we’ve had, etc. This weekly post is intended to be a way to keep you informed about our activities. If you have any suggestions on what you would like to see or hear about, please do not hesitate to contact us.

The first week of 2010 has been a busy one for the engineers installing the Hyperprobe. They have finished installing all of the spectrometers and the Hyperprobe is finally completely assembled. The next step is to test the vacuum, gun and spectrometers to make sure they are working correctly and then begin the initial user training. It is finally time for the rubber to meet the road.

The technician’s position has also been approved and is available for viewing on the FSU employment website (www.uncfsu.edu/humres/vacancies.htm,  search for ‘microprobe technician’). We will be advertising in several different professional journals in the coming weeks so keep your eyes open. We will also be hiring a part time administrative assistant in the next few weeks which should be a great help.

I hope you have all had a safe holiday season and we look forward to seeing you at SENCR-MIC this year.

Steven
