THIS WEEK AT SENCR-MIC, January 11-15, 2010
This week the engineers provided us with a rudimentary training class on how to operate the 8530F and we have begun to ‘explore’ the probe. The software is extremely user friendly and I am confident that we will be able to train students to use it in a timely fashion (as opposed to older microprobes that require you know how to travel to the Moon and back before you even touch the machine).
Supplies for mounting and polishing samples were ordered this week and the plan is for the lab to have full sample preparation and coating capabilities by the end of next week – check back to see if we keep to our schedule!Steven
